First off: Why the name, you ask? OK, you didn't but you're gonna be told anyway. It was at Swansea University that I really started to learn guitar and began writing songs. Well over 100 songs later, I owe everything to the place it all started, namely the halls/dorms I stayed in: Neuadd Sibly. "Neuadd" is the Welsh word for Halls, you see, and "Sibly" was some famous person after whom the halls were named. Somehow I don't think there'll be another band using this name already.... Too busy drinking, he failed to notice the one-armed guitar thief... To reiterate, Neuadd Sibly consists of just one band member, Paul Townsend. Everything you see on this site, everything you hear on the recordings (apart from Steve Rasmussen's piano work on Why I Cry), and all the artwork featured on Neuadd Sibly's albums Driving Into a Headwind and The Bright Dull Grey is all my own work. Exceptions are of course, all work which falls under the "collaborations" title, where credits are always listed. It is a combination of great software, great equipment and great patience, that has brought about these recordings and hopefully this is the only the very start of it all. At the moment, Neuadd Sibly is still in its early stages, relatively, although the two completed albums are a testament to the zealousness and productiveness of all involved. Neuadd Sibly are still exclusively a closet-band which only operate in the studio. As time progresses, collaborations across the Internet increase, and jamming sessions restart as soon as like-minded folk show their faces, Neuadd Sibly will hopefully grow and grow, although we prefer not to set any goals and demands on the future: our sole ambition was to produce our own CD that sounded fairly good, and we firmly believe we have already achieved this. Anything else is purely a bonus. Nevertheless, no band page would be complete without a few band pictures...just that mine aren't quite as atmospheric and "live" as all the others out there.....yet! Football thug ponders life, the universe, and a highly interesting guitar neck... There are however scores of people that I have to thank for all their support during the story so far, most notably my wife Inken for her constant patience and reviews. She has been the second ears for every single piece of Neuadd Sibly's work so far, and will possibly feature on the next album if she can be convinced. She promised harmonies if I could conjure up a little drummer, so now I'm waiting... In addition, my friends and fans around the world have provided unlimited support: Laurey and Brian, Ville, Julie, Steve R, Neil, Ian, Paul, Lisa, Andy, Chris, Stu, John, and my extended family of course. You've taken my CD to the reaches of Finland, Canada, USA, Scotland, England, Wales, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland and your continued support means the world to me.
